August 5 – 9, 2017 #TripReport (Guadalupe Island)

Hello !!

Guadalupe Island, well recognized as the Great White Shark Kingdom, gave us lots of action and this season started very well. The first day we watched 5 different great white sharks circling around the cages at the surface, showing us their dorsal fin, biting the bait and even the buoys and also circling  around the submersible cage at 20 ft / 6 m. All of them were males, most of them of 3 m / 12 ft and another of 4 m /12 ft. The water temperature was 72 ºF / 22 º C, the visibility was 30 ft / 9m to 40 ft / 12m.

The next day was absolutely amazing! 10 Great White sharks!! A couple of juveniles, 2 males swimming around the cages at the surface and a big male called Bruce or better know as Zapata of 4m / 12ft was breaching and very aggressive against the bait. Bite Face and Mau were also in the area.

The panga rides were a good chance to appreciate the geography of the island and to watch the elephant seal colonies and Californian sea lions as well. The last day of diving, the action begun early in the morning with the wranglers fighting to keep the bait from the hungry great whites. The first sharks took the bait and one went straight to bite the buoy. We saw 7 sharks including Garmin and Bite Face again. We had a little bit of surge and we were surrounded by lots of sharks (6 to 7 great white) during the day. They really liked to check the cages at the surface, bite the bait and escape with it to the submersible cage.

Lots of Great White Sharks, lot of action in Guadalupe and everybody came back really happy!!

See you soon!!
